BRETTON WOODS, NH, Feb. 27, 2008 –March 1st and 2nd is Mardis Gras Weekend at Mount Washington Resort, and for those brave souls crazy enough to hurl themselves down a snow-covered mountain on their mountain bikes, Ernie’s Bike Shop of Westbrook, Maine, will present the third and final race of the Frost Heave Winter Mountain Bike Series at Bretton Woods. The race is mountain-cross style with four riders at a time sweeping down the course over rollers, table tops and steep banked turns. In addition to the race, mountain bikers can also participate in a Big Air competition. These mountain bike competitions are all part of the fun and other wild activities planned for Mount Washington Resort’s Mardi Gras, where skiers, riders and spectators will bear witness to big tricks, big air, and big fun this weekend.
Registration for the competitions begins at 8:00 a.m. at Bretton Woods and race time is 11:00am. Registration for The Frost Heave Winter Mountain Bike Race is $35.00; registration for the mountain bike Big Air competition is $10.00; and a combined registration for both events is $40.00. The Mardi Gras theme will be
carried on across the Resort with colorful beads, entertainment, costumes, and
masks --- all adding up to "Bourbon Street North."
Mardis Gras festivities begin at Bretton Woods with games and
contests fit for the slopes and will be ongoing throughout the weekend at The
Mount Washington Hotel, where there will be games, costumes, a Cajun Experience
Dinner, and Mardis Gras party on Saturday night.
The Cajun
Experience Dinner is Saturday evening, and is a four course Cajun dinner
including traditional Louisiana flavors prepared by our award-winning
chefs. It is followed by the Mardi Gras Party. The
Cajun Experience Dinner is $60 per person, plus tax and gratuity, and space is
