KILLINGTON, Vt. ( December 3,
2007) – Skiers and riders are rejoicing
the powder conditions as a significant winter storm rolling up the East Coast
has already dropped six inches of snow as of 11 a.m. at Killington Resort, and
heavy snow continues to fall.
The National Weather Service is
forecasting up to another five inches of snow and continued snow showers for the
next few days. Currently Killington has 42 trails open with an average
mid-mountain base depth of 24-32 inches and powder/packed powder surface
conditions. Continued snowfall and snowmaking temperatures will result in
additional terrain for the coming weekend.
“This storm has already provided a
huge boost in terms of improving the already outstanding early-season skiing and
riding conditions,” said Dave Rathbun, director of sales and marketing at
Killington Resort. “We’ve also seen a significant increase in folks calling our
central reservations and going online to book vacations, especially for the
upcoming holiday
season.”
