TENNEY MOUNTAIN HAS A BUSY SPRING PLANNED

Tenney Mountain has full line-up of events this Spring

 

(Plymouth, NH) As Spring approaches, the buzz at Tenney Mountain is loud about upcoming events and competitions. March will be filled with après ski entertainment, Hammerhead sled racing, a freeride rail jam, and the long-running Cardboard Box Derby. The schedule is as follows:

Friday February 29^th—Ski & Ride The River 92.5 Day--Boston's independent music station, 92.5 The River will be offering discounted tickets to its listeners this day. Their official coupon is required to receive the discount. Apres Ski Party in The Backcountry Pub from 3-5pm with music and giveaways. Open to the public.

Saturday March 1^st—Ride & Ski New England Weekend Tour Party--Ride and Ski New England card holders receive a 2 for 1 ticket, and we’ll have giveaways and live music with Pat Foley upstairs in the Backcountry Pub in the afternoon. Open to the public.

 

Saturday March 1^st—Live Free and Ride Snowboard Jam—the first event in our newly designed terrain park with new features from local fabrication company, Smoke & Mirrors, including rainbow rail, a-frame rail, boxes, and a step-up barrel bonk. Registration in the base lodge from 10-11am and there is no entry fee with a valid lift ticket (required). The event starts at 12noon. Sponsored by White Mountain Exploration, Eastern Mountain Sports, Monster Energy drinks, Oakley, and White Mountain Snow & Skate.

 

Sunday March 2^nd—Hammerhead Rally X Race Series—A race on the high tech sleds offered up at Tenney this year. The course runs down through rollers and berms and fastest times win. Limit 20 competitors. Registration in the Base Lodge from 9am-12pm, competitor meeting at 12:45pm at the top of the course, and race starts at 1pm. Helmets are required and participants must be atleast 12 years old and 54” tall.

 

Saturday March 8^th—Apres ski with local musician Bob King—from 3-6pm in the Backcountry Pub

 

Sunday March 9^th—Hammerhead  Rally X Race Series--Limit 20 competitors. Registration in the Base Lodge from 9am-12pm, competitor meeting at 12:45pm at the top of the course, and race starts at 1pm. Helmets are required and participants must be atleast 12 years old and 54” tall.

 

Saturday March 15^th—The Cardboard Box Derby-- Back for another season, this long-running classic will fill the hill with the craziest recycling you've ever seen! Crafts made of only cardboard, tape, paint, glue, and markers will compete for fastest times, best crash, and most creative craft. Registration in the base lodge from 9am-12pm and event starts at 1pm. Maximum of 4 riders per craft. A 50/50 raffle will benefit The Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth.

 

Sunday March 16^th—Hammerhead Rally X Championships—The final Hammerhead event of the season. Limit 100 competitors. Event starts at

10am in 10E Base Camp. Sleds are provided and helmets are required. Registration in the base lodge from 8-9:30am. Prizes include a round-trip plane ticket, Hammerhead Sled, and much more. $20 entry fee, $10 entry fee with valid lift ticket.

 

Saturday March 22^nd—Apres Ski entertainment with Justin Jaymes—from 3-6pm in The Backcountry Pub.

HAMMERHEAD SLEDDING TAKING OFF AT TENNEY

HAMMERHEAD SLEDDING IS POPULAR NEW ACTIVITY AT TENNEY

 

 

Plymouth, NH—Hammerhead sleds are making a big bang at Tenney Mountain this season. These high-end, top-of-the-line action sleds are constructed with a light aluminum frame, patented steering, and comfortable suspension fabric seating resulting in the comfort of a Cadillac and the performance of a Ferrari. Tenney is allowing these on some of their slopes this winter, making them a flagship site for one of the newest, cutting-edge sports in the industry.

 

The Hammerhead Rally X Race Series is helping to get this sport off the ground at it’s new location. In it’s inaugural year, the event fills up quickly every Saturday and is a high adrenaline sport for both participants as well as spectators. As the popularity of this sport increases, plans for Hammerhead sledding at Tenney Mountain continue to move forward.

 

Hammerhead sleds are available for rent on the tubing hill on Saturdays from 4-8pm, Sundays from 10am-4pm, and holiday periods from 10am-4pm. A package including sled, helmet, and ticket is $20, however if people have their own Hammerhead and helmet, a “ticket only” pass is $15. Sledders go one at a time, sharing the trail “That Way” with the tubers. Plans for The Hammerhead Go-Fly Zone, a mild terrain park for the sleds including berms, rollers, gentle moguls, and more are in the works.

 

#7 in the Hammerhead Rally X Race Series is next Saturday, February 9^th. Twenty racers are allowed to enter and space fills up quickly. The Hammerhead Rally X Championships are scheduled for March 16^th.

TENNEY MOUNTAIN'S HORNET LIFT, TERRAIN PARK, BOTH OPEN THIS WEEKEND

TENNEY’S HORNET LIFT TO OPEN THIS WEEKEND

 

 

Plymouth, NH—Ski area operations at Tenney Mountain are moving full steam ahead with the opening of the Hornet Double chair this weekend. After a successful state inspection on Thursday January 24th, Tenney now has the ability to offer guests access to the top of the mountain. This gives Tenney the potential to open 60 percent more trails, conditions permitting. For the weekend of January 26th, customers can expect limited runs off the summit, with more additions the following weekend as snowmaking continues.

 

Lift ticket rates will stay at $35 adult, $25 jr, sr, college students through Monday 1/28, then will increase to $45/$35 for normal season rates. Tenney also offers morning and afternoon half day tickets.

 

With the good news at hand, the snowmaking department continues to blast the snow guns on Shooting Star in hopes of increasing the base depth at the summit for the weekend. “The snowmaking and lift crews are in good spirits and everyone is very excited to get our guests the terrain they have been eagerly waiting for.” Says White Mountain Exploration partner, Kirk Nassetta.

TERRAIN PARK OPEN AT TENNEY MOUNTAIN

 

10E Base Camp is the newest addition to the mountain’s cutting-edge adventure options

 

Plymouth, NH—Freestyle skiers and riders have plenty to do now at Tenney Mountain with the opening of the new and improved “10E Base Camp”, a terrain park comprised of rails, boxes, and jumps of varying sizes. The park is currently situated on Buttercup and Base Camp, and may spread to other trails in the vicinity in the near future. The opening of this park coincides with the opening of the Hornet Double chairlift, making it a big weekend for the mountain.

 

With 7 new features from local fabrication company, Smoke & Mirrors, two sections have been built. A medium feature park has come to life at the top of Buttercup and includes rails, boxes, and a jump. On Base Camp, a large feature format park has been created complete with a-frame rail, rainbow rail, battleship rail, and money booter! A small feature park is in the works and will be a great place for beginners to learn skills, park etiquette and safety.

 

At the head of all this is Tenney’s new Park Manager, Kelly O’Brien (formerly of Loon and Waterville) Kelly brings with him many years experience in park design, implementation, and maintenance. He urges people to come check out the park, “The park crew and I have been working very hard to create a fun, laid back, progressive learning environment. We have lots of jibs and hits for all levels of freestyle riding. Come be part of the newest terrain park in the White Mountains.”
