title in reference to clouds above champlain mill, the cascades and spinner place which almost appear to be painted. winooski, a former mill town on the banks of the winooski river and adjacent to her sister, the queen -- burlington, has engaged in the largest reformation project in vermont's history, redeveloping next-to-every part of her downtown. with the exception of the champlain mill to the right, all these building have been constructed in the last 3 years.

i've often dubbed winooski, " the lewiston of vermont" for its similar characteristics with lewiston maine. lewiston is a former mill town engaged in maine's largest redevelopment projects. lewiston's efforts to overcome the tremendous struggles since the city's once lucrative back bone crumbled to the south were recognized in 2007 when the city received one of 10 "all-america city awards." the all-america city award is the oldest community recognition program in the nation and recognizes communities whose citizens work together to identify and tackle community-wide challenges and achieve uncommon results.
