The ride to North Grafton was well worth it for these students! The second grade was full of energy and pep, and very well may have produced the loudest cheer I've heard thus far - way to go, gang!

It was a relaxed and easy-going time with the kids in the third and fourth grade - a wonderful group with plenty of great questions about meteorology AND about television! Great to meet all of you in Melrose!

What a friendly bunch!  Not only did these kids welcome me with a wonderful combination of enthusiasm, energy AND memory of what we learned when I visited last year, but I can say this was the first group to line up to get hugs from me after my presentation!  Thanks for making me feel like a million bucks, kids - great to see you!!

MARCH 18, 2007 - SHAWSHEEN ELEMENTARY, ANDOVER, MA

It was a great trip to Andover and the Shawsheen Elementary School, where these first graders weren't only weatherwise, but community minded, too! They gave me a wonderful shift reminding us all to love the earth and go green, and they're collecting stuffed animals in hopes of breaking the Guinness Book of World Records bar for most collected, then give them to kids in need in Belize! Not bad for first graders, eh?

MARCH 7, 2008 - MERRYMOUNT SCHOOL, QUINCY, MA

It's always an extra-special time for me when I have the opportunity to visit kids who are not only big fans of the weather, but also of our Weekly Weather Word contest on NECN! Each week, kids and adults are challenged to create their own, creative, weather-related sentence using the word of the week. For years, the students in Mrs. Gibbons' class as the Merrymount School in Quincy have delievered their entries, without fail. Now I had a chance to meet this year's outstanding fourth and fifth grade class, many of whom have either won the contest or had their sentences read on air - I felt as if I knew them already! When the new word of the week is announced, I'll be able to include this video of the superstars from Merrymount!

MARCH 4, 2008 - WEST ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, ANDOVER, MA

The auditorium was packed at West Elementary and the students were on the ball - they were ready to show off their new weather knowledge of clouds and precipitation, and the lightning we made looked extra-spiffy with all of the lights in the auditorium dimmed! Not to mention the tornado video in nearly real-life size on the projection unit! Thanks for a great time, kids!
