Today was an on-air first for this meteorologist - wine tasting! Tyler Balliet, Founder and Editor of TheSecondGlass.com was in the NECN studios to give us the low down on some new and trendy wines as we head into fall. A self-proclaimed "wine idiot," I know I love a Riesling, I down cranberry wine like it's my job every autumn, but I really don't know much about wines beyond that. My alma mater, Cornell University, offered a wine class that my wife took our senior spring semester, but I wasn't 21 when the course started in January of that semester and, to this day, can only look on, perplexed, when she makes wine choices.
And it seems for this reason, and for folks like me, that TheSecondGlass.com was born. Aiming to be a "snob-free environment" for folks to learn more about wine, the site is perfect for getting your feet wet in the world of fermented grapes. Not only that, but they're putting together their second "Wine Riot" - a sampling of over 250 wines, made around the world but all of which are sold locally in New England. So, enjoy Tyler's education of a true "wine idiot" in the video segment below, and for more info on the Wine Riot, click here!
