Daily Forecast: Rare, Dangerous Cold Invades New England

Wind chill values may reach 55 degrees below zero in parts of far northern Maine, while dangerous chill capable of frostbite in 15 minutes of exposed skin surges deep into Southern New England Friday night. Today (Friday): AM flurry, falling temperatures, stinging wind chill drops below zero by afternoon. Temperatures falling through the teens south, dropping below zero north. Northwest wind gusts to 40 mph.
Overnight Friday Night: Lows below zero, frostbite-inducing wind chill -20° to -40°, -30° to -50° Northern New England. Wind gusts to 40 mph. Mostly clear except for ocean-effect snow showers on the Outer Cape, where 1"-3" of snow accumulates from Eastham to Truro. Northwest wind 15-25 mph, gusts to 40 mph.
Saturday: Dangerous morning wind chill, cold & fair. Highs in the teens south, around zero north, subzero wind chill. West wind 5-15 mph.
Sunday: Mostly cloudy and much milder. Highs around 40°, 30s north. Southwest wind 10-20 mph with some higher gusts.
