Daily Forecast Video: Wind to reach a peak Wednesday evening ahead of strong cold front that plunges temperatures

For most of New England, Wednesday is a day of passing, windswept rain, though the Cape and South Coast see stronger gusts.  Then, Wednesday evening, winds increase for all with scattered power outages ahead of a cold front that plunges temperatures either side of midnight to freeze standing water by dawn.  A blustery day follows Thursday.  Full details in the forecast video and remember, in addition to the NBC10 Boston and NECN station apps, to download my personal Matt Noyes Weather app to communicate directly with me!

Today (Wednesday):  Windswept periods of rain. Highs in the 50s. South-southwest wind 15-25 mph with late day gusts to 50.

Overnight Tonight:  Strong wind gusts, downpours and embedded thunder end as blustery snow showers as moisture quickly freezes. Lows by dawn in the 20s. Southwest wind becomes west-northwest at 15-25 mph with gusts to 50.

Thursday:  Blustery, flurries, variable clouds. Highs in the lower 30s, wind chill 20. West-northwest wind 15-25 mph with gusts to 45.

Friday:  Mostly sunny. Highs in the 40s. Southwest wind 6-16 mph.
